The Australian Drag King Community Awards Night uses a mixed voting system that combines community voice with industry expertise. Public voting allows audiences across Australia to support the Drag Kings, venues, and contributors who inspire them, while our judging panel ensures each award reflects creativity, impact, and contribution to gender‑diverse performance.
How public voting works (step‑by‑step)

Awards recognise Drag Kings, venues, and community contributors across multiple categories, including performance, innovation, cultural impact, and community leadership. Nominees must be active within the Australian Drag King and gender‑diverse performance community. Full category descriptions and eligibility criteria are listed below each award.

Technical skill, creativity, characterisation, facial hair and contour work, prosthetics or special effects (where applicable), and overall impact.

How judging works
Alongside public voting, a panel of judges drawn from queer arts, performance, and cultural sectors reviews all nominations. Judges assess:

Community voting and judges’ scores are weighted together, ensuring each award reflects both grassroots support and professional insight.

Awards announced: At the Australian Drag King Community Awards Night during Mardi Gras festival week.
Votes submitted after the closing date cannot be counted.
