Who can contribute

Share your story, creativity, and lived experience with Australia’s lesbian and queer women’s community.

We welcome contributions from:

  • lesbian and queer women

  • trans women

  • non‑binary people aligned with women‑loving‑women communities

We prioritise voices rooted in lived experience within lesbian and queer women’s communities.

What We Publish

  • lived experience

  • relationships

  • community stories

  • culture & politics

  • opinion pieces

  • creative writing & poetry

We’re interested in a wide range of work, including:

  • photography & art

  • video & spoken word

  • podcast segments

  • reviews (books, music, theatre, film)

  • interviews

  • news & reporting

All content should be community‑focused and relevant to Australia or the Australian queer diaspora.

What We Don’t Publish

To maintain LOTL’s standards and community values, we do not accept:

  • pornographic or explicit erotic content

  • sexual fantasy

  • voyeuristic or exploitative material

  • AI‑generated writing

  • defamatory or harmful content

  • political endorsements

  • content that misrepresents lesbian identity

  • content unrelated to lesbian/queer women’s communities

  • content not relevant to Australia

Language & Identity

LOTL proudly honours lesbian identity and the history behind it. We also recognise that language evolves, and many in our community use “queer” as an inclusive umbrella.

Our approach:

  • We celebrate lesbian identity

  • We use “queer women’s community” as a broad, inclusive term

  • No one is asked to change their language

  • No identity is erased

  • We avoid harmful or outdated terms

  • We respect self‑identification

Photography & Art

We accept:

  • original photography

  • original artwork

  • community‑focused documentary or portrait work

We do not accept:

  • nudity

  • explicit imagery

All submissions must include:

  • photographer/artist credit

  • model releases (if applicable)

  • written permission for use

  • captions and context

Podcast & Video Contributions

We welcome audio and video submissions that meet the following standards:

  • clear audio

  • well‑lit, properly framed video

  • no copyrighted music

  • no AI‑generated voices

  • no explicit sexual content

  • consent & release forms provided

  • respectful, community‑centred storytelling

Usage & Rights

By submitting work to LOTL, contributors agree that their work may be:

  • published on the LOTL website

  • shared on social media

  • adapted into podcast narration

  • used in video episodes

  • included in newsletters

  • archived permanently

  • edited for clarity, tone, length, and SEO

Contributors retain full copyright to their work.
