Anyone.

Performers, audience members, producers, friends, venues and community organisations are all encouraged to submit nominations.

Self-nominations are welcome.

    Performance quality, originality, professionalism, audience impact, community reputation.

  • Celebrates new talent showing exceptional growth and promise.

    ≤3 years performing, artistic development, risk-taking, potential, minimum performance activity.

  • Honours a single standout act or number performed within the year.

    Energy, execution, crowd response, technical skill, video evidence

  • Best Aesthetics/ Costume

    Recognises excellence in drag king costuming, styling, and visual presentation.

  • Recognises outstanding make-up artistry and facial transformation that enhances a performer's character, stage presence, and overall performance.

    Technical skill, creativity, characterisation, facial hair and contour work, prosthetics or special effects (where applicable), and overall impact.

  • Honours a king whose work strengthens community, activism, and visibility for marginalised groups.

    Organising, advocacy, mentoring, fundraising, community testimonials.

  • Celebrates a performer whose confidence, charisma, stage presence, and command of the audience leave a lasting impression.

    Stage presence, confidence, audience engagement, movement, originality, and overall impact.

  • Recognises a venue that consistently supports drag king culture.

    Frequency of bookings, fair pay, safety, diversity of line-ups, performer feedback.

  • Awards a show or festival that showcases drag kings with excellence and diversity.

    Concept, production quality, audience experience, diversity of performers, minimum run.

  • Honours a performer whose multiple years of work helped shape drag king culture in Australia.
