group of people daning in nightclub 2019 marks 10 years since the Red Rattler threw open its doors in Marrickville as a creative playground for performers, musicians, artists, designers, multimedia makers, experimentalists, filmmakers, activists, organisers, and audiences alike.

It was the realisation of the collective dream of five local artists who wanted to create a legal warehouse venue to showcase alternative Sydney arts, performance and grassroots activism.

The Rat is a queer-run creative playground that is ethical, sustainable and community-owned. Not-for-profit and volunteer-driven, it works to ensure continued inclusive and affordable access for a diverse range of communities and creators.

The Red Rattler community will celebrate with four special events this week – including a historical multimedia exhibition, live storytelling, live music and a divinely dissenting cabaret of body, spirit, protest and party:
