Why Great Britain Is The Place To Be In 2017Great Britain is definitely somewhere to add to your travel hot list

I’m British, so perhaps I’m biased. But for me there’s nothing better than when the sun shines over the rolling hills of the Great British countryside. Especially when you’re chilling in a beer garden with a cold cider in hand!

As one of the most welcoming and accepting places in the world for LGBT travellers, Great Britain is definitely somewhere to add to your travel hot list in 2017. With 12 Pride Festivals and countless gay-friendly places to stay and play, you’ll feel right at home in no time here.

If you’re keen to discover more of what makes Great Britain great, then you’re in luck. There are so many things to see and do. Rain or shine, this small isle will keep you entertained…you just need know where to look.

Here are just a few of the highlights…

London

Most people, for obvious reasons (including a 24-hour flight from Australia!), start in the nation’s capital London Town.

The capital city has it all. London is literally everything you could ever want in an LGBT friendly travel destination, including a few of the coolest Pride events on the calendar each year.

Jump from tube to tube on the London Underground and in no time you can be browsing the market stalls on Portobello Road, wandering around the Tate Modern, partying in some of the best gay clubs in Vauxhall or sampling the best coffee in the whole of Great Britain, which from experience can be found in the rainbow suburb of Soho!

But it’s not just the coffee that makes Soho great. Soho is also home to world famous gay club G-A-Y and lesbian hot spot, SheSOHO where you can find live music, comedy and DJs every weekend. Mid week it’s a great place to hang out being the only women-priority venue in London.

Brighton

Just like Kim in Sugar Rush, no trip to Blighty would be complete without making the move from London to Brighton.

Hailed as the gay capital of the UK, Brighton is where it’s at for LGBT visitors to Great Britain. Thousands flock to this seaside town each year for Brighton Pride which is now a full weekend event.

Spend some time wandering around the laneways of hipster North Laines where you can pick up some unique gifts and vintage threads. The Piers and Queers walking tour is also a great way to see the city and learn about Brighton’s LGBT past.

Glasgow

‘The friendliest city in the world’ according to Rough Guides mean Glasgow is definitely a place you need to visit.

With LGBTQI events like PRIDE and GlasGay drawing huge crowds to experience the festival vibes, comedy, film, arts and of course a bit of partying thrown in for good measure, you’ll be guaranteed a good time! Hit up Virginia Street for bars and clubs where you’ll find open mics nights, drag acts and DJ’s.

A four and a half hour train ride will take you direct from London, across the border into Scotland to Glasgow. Alternatively you can hop on a quick flight from most major European airports.
