Global petition asks South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs to deny pastor Steven Anderson entry.

All Out, the global organisation focused on building a world where no person will have to sacrifice family or freedom, safety or dignity, because of who they are or who they love, has teamed up with Gay SA Radio to launch a global petition campaign requesting the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Malusi Gigaba, denies notoriously homophobic US pastor Steven Anderson entry into South Africa.

Following the Orlando tragedy, Anderson used the disgusting words “50 less pedophiles in this world” in his church to “celebrate” the massacre.

Now, he plans to travel to South Africa to spread his hate. Already thousands have spoken out against the planned trip to say he is not welcome.

South Africa’s constitution is the first in Africa that guarantees the rights of LGBT people. Although the constitution also protects freedom of expression, hate speech is explicitly excluded.

Hendrik Baird, from Gay SA Radio, said, “after the South African government abstained from a UN vote to establish a LGBTQI watchdog, we need to remind our leaders to take stronger action to protect LGBTQI rights.”

In 2014, the Dalai Lama was denied an entry visa when he applied to attend the Nobel Peace Summit in South Africa. Eventually the event was cancelled.
