2013 Sydney Same Sex Dancesport CompetitionBrought to you by Sydney Dance F.I.E.N.D.S  Sydney Same Sex Dance sport Competition promises to be bigger and better then ever.

Just when you need a winter warm up it’s time for the annual Sydney Same Sex Dancesport Competition again (2pm Saturday 6 July).  From the moment you enter the Petersham Town Hall in all its art deco glory, you will be swept into another world where you can watch, dance, compete or just absorb the fabulous vibe of music and dance.

‘The 2013 Sydney Same Sex Dancesport Competition is shaping up to be even bigger and more spectacular than previously with competitors from around Australia and internationally coming to participate’ states Amanda Nairn, chair of Sydney Dance F.I.E.N.D.S.

The Sydney Dance F.I.E.N.D.S. are a not for profit community organisation with the sole purpose of running the annual Sydney Same Sex Dancesport Competition. This is part of a network of competitions every year with participants coming from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, WA, New Zealand and other international locations.

Anyone from novice to A Grade is welcome to compete, but the best seats in the house will belong to those watching it all unfold. There you’ll see a variety of dances, styles and outfits – from hot Latin beats, to beautiful Ballroom moves and fantastic New Vogue flare.

After years of reality dancing on television, many people can name the dances but it is totally different to be present and support your favourites. You might have more of a hot Latin preference and melt with a Rumba- the dance of love; dance in the sideline with a Cha; clap wildly through an upbeat Samba and stamp along with the Paso Doble drama.

Maybe you’re in a ballroom mood and can picture the old style movies, the tuxedos and flowing dresses (yes there are some dresses), the smooth flowing Waltz, the toe tapping Quickstep, the flamboyant Tango and the stunning Foxtrot.

This year there will be more opportunities for the audience to strut their stuff too, more chances to interact with the competitors and to participate in speciality events.

The Sydney Dance F.I.E.N.D.S. are a not for profit community organisation whose sole purpose is to ensure that the Sydney Same Sex Dancesport Competition is a spectacular annual event for the community and the nations dance competitors. It is run by dancers for the advancement of dancing, health and social activity in Sydney and in support of Same Sex Dancesport nationally.

The committee members are all competitive dancers from Novice to A Grade in Latin, Ballroom and New Vogue and have travelled participated in competitions across Australia, New Zealand and internationally.
