Must-see Midsumma: Good Works
Must-see Midsumma: Good Works

Check out this play with queer content and an all-female production team.

TrailerParkProductions presents an intriguing window into the human condition with Good Works at Revolt Theatre. “Most people never have to face that at the right time, the right place, they are capable of anything,” says character Tim Donovan. The play looks into the behaviour of human beings and what we are capable of in the most ultimate of situations. From the betrayal between best friends to the intuitive love between two boys and the consequences of misled parental love, Good Works shows us the darkest moments between two families over three generations. This enlivening journey that the play takes us on is traced by the theme of the complex emotional matrix of male homosexuality, feminism, devotion, love and deceitfulness.

Directed by Karra Peppler (Top Girls, co-curator AdFEST 2009), the Artistic Director of TrailerParkProductions, heads an all-female production team in delivering Good Works to the stage this January. Good Works shows us the darkest moments between two families over three generations, from the betrayal between best friends to the intuitive love between two boys. Kristopher Brown as Tim Donovan (Cyber Girl, The Spanish Tragedy, Homeostasis) made his debut at 16 years old as a recurring guest in a children’s television series.

He is a graduate of Theatre Studies at Queensland’s Griffith University. Hannah Gott plays Rita Kennedy (The Temperature Rising, Captain Mysterious and the League of Awesome) and is a VCA’s Acting Studio graduate. Wallis Murphy-Munn, as Mary Margaret, studied at The Gaiety of Acting in Dublin, Ireland, before returning to Melbourne after ten years abroad. She has produced and performed in numerous short films and productions since her return. Josh Karlik, a Drama and Geosciences graduate, has numerous shows under his belt and is debuting in his first lead as Shane Grogan for TrailerParkProductions. Good Works is a distinctive and remarkable Australian play.
