A story of survival, compassion, and above all, love. Alex and Maggie will steal your hearts, give you hope when there’s none, and make you realize that not everything is what it seems.

The story of ICE by Lyn Gardner is about two Detective Inspectors assigned to work together on a kidnapping case in London. Alexandra Blake and Maggie Campbell are both very passionate about their work, but their working methods are very different.
While Alexandra will do what it takes to complete her assignment, Maggie will follow the regulation by letter. Their different views to accomplish their duty will push them to disagree on the methods used to solve their case and gain them a two-week suspension.
Three years later, they are brought together once again to complete a simple mission on an unknown location. But destiny sometimes has a dark sense of humour. Things start to go wrong and both of them are forced to put their past and differences behind them if they wish to see another day. Little by little, the walls around their hearts start crumbling down and the feelings they hid for three years will start to re-surface again. Will their love for each other be enough?
This book reminded me why I love reading so much. It has two believable main characters, good supporting characters, a great storyline, a good plot twist, and a lot of feeling. Not only that, the writer makes sure that the reader has a complete view of what these characters are going through: their thoughts, their insecurities, their sadness and pain, but also their happiness and humour towards life. This story will warm you up inside and have you laughing and crying until the end.
After reading this book, it became one of my many favourites. The author kept it real, gave the story a good flow throughout the storyline, and gave the story a sense of closure; it felt finished which is very good. Lyn Gardner has become one of my favourite authors, and I can’t wait to read more of her works.
