The Journey to Sydney’s Own Queer Museum

Qtopia Sydney is an ACNC-registered not-for-profit organisation that aims to represent the history and culture of the LGBTQIA+ community with integrity, authenticity, and accuracy. The museum hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions exploring the LGBTQIA+ community through history, culture, art, and contemporary issues.

Launching in Sydney for Mardi Gras 2024 (23rd Feb) the Museum will feature historical and archival objects, imagery, video, and audio to tell some of the stories of this significant period within Australia’s history. Qtopia Sydney provides transformative stories of LGBTQIA+ history and experiences to broaden the knowledge and perspectives of students, educators, and the general public through innovative education participatory programs.

A Place of Empowerment and Education

Qtopia Sydney is committed to telling the stories of the people who make up our community. It encourages members of the public to share their knowledge, their experience, and their voice. The museum is a place to educate and break down discrimination and ignorance barriers. It is a safe place that supports people grappling with their identity.

Qtopia Sydney has been a long time coming. It deserves the support of all Australians. It is a place that not only protects, respects, and extends the equality of future Queer lives but also saves the lives of many young Australians. That’s something we can all be proud of.
