Tennis SydneyAt the recent Tennis Sydney AGM , President Brendan Moore announced to Members that successful discussions with Amazon Tennis had resulted in an Understanding between the two Clubs that consolidates and aligns the administration of both Clubs

Amazon Tennis will benefit greatly from Tennis Sydney’s established administration, insurance coverage, and contacts within the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) worldwide and through their Membership to Tennis NSW”, said Tracey Macmillan from the Amazons.

“It also makes sense to have the only two LGBTI tennis groups in Sydney in partnership together”, added Brendan Moore. “We trust this partnership will see the growth in both groups and provide greater opportunities for players in our local competitions and tournaments and also for visiting players from inter-state and overseas.”

Since its commencement in 1995, Amazon Tennis has been a major organisation in the lesbian sporting community. With weekly competition and social tennis being held all year round, Amazon Tennis has also been a great outlet for social activity amongst the Sydney lesbian community. It continues to foster tennis talent as well as facilitating social events.

Tennis Sydney was established in 1989 and is an incorporated, non-profit organisation that hosts two major GLTA tournaments per year; mid-week competitions for up to one hundred players three times a year and regular Sunday Social tennis and social events.

“Our calendar of events is well under way for the year with entry now open to both the Amazon Winter Comp and the Tennis Sydney Swingers Comp due to start in June. Planning is also fast progressing for our GLTA Spring Tournament to be held 26-28 September. With this new partnership it is shaping up to be one of our largest events ever.” said Brendan Moore.
