Paris will play host to the Gay Games in August 2018.

In August 2018, Paris is hosting the 10th anniversary of the Gay Games. Over 15,000 participants are expected to take part in 36 sports and 11 cultural events.

Australians and New Zealanders have always been strong supporters of this magical event which is open to everyone – the world’s largest participatory sports and cultural event where everyone is invited. A group of us have joined together with the aim of reaching a target of 2,000 athletes and supporters attending from Australia and New Zealand.

Built upon the principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best, since 1982 the Gay Games have empowered thousands of LGBT athletes and artists through sport, culture, and fellowship – You don’t have to be gay, you don’t have to be good – you just have to be over 18.

Just imagine…A full week of sport in a venue in the heart of Paris, meeting other athletes and spectators; sitting in a petite café watching the parade and soaking up the atmosphere; participating in or watching one of the myriads of cultural events on offer as part of the games; taking time out to be a tourist in a glorious and historic city; savouring the nightlife in whatever way you chose with plenty for male, female and transgender alike.

After the games, you can travel to one or many European cities all close at hand for an enhanced holiday. This is our vision for you, a life-changing event to be part of your personal story.

Promoting this event in Australia and New Zealand and organising this amount of people is going to take a lot of passion. This is where we need your help.

We would like a team of dedicated volunteers to help us make our dream come true.

This team requires people with:

  • Knowledge of LGBT sports
  • Marketing skills
  • Business skills
  • Media/journalist skills
  • People working in the media
  • Social Media skills
  • Database skills
  • Organisational and administrative skills
  • Communication skills

We especially want women, youth and transgender volunteers.

We intend to organise roadshows in 2016/2017 to the major cities in Australia and New Zealand – and some regional cities too. We want the word to be spread to as many sporting and cultural groups around Australia and New Zealand as possible.  We intend to get some high-profile LGBT sports and cultural ambassadors on board to help us.

An inaugural meeting has been organised on 22nd August at 2 pm at ACON, 414 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010.
