Amanda Seyfried plays a hooker named Chloe hired by Catherine (Julianne Moore) to see if her husband would cheat on her.

Chloe and Catherine begin meeting regularly where Chloe shares her encounters with Catherine’s husband. However, the connection between Chloe and Catherine deepen until they are both caught in a “web of desire,” according to the film’s synopsis.

The sex scene between Seyfried and Moore has been widely discussed, though Moore told People, “Whenever you have an intimate scene with somebody, you’re very prepared. Everyone knows exactly what’s happening and it’s usually very choreographed.”

Seyfried said of the role, “It’s a character that wouldn’t come up very often for a person my age.” She also noted that she hoped fans would see her “as an actress, rather than just a sweetheart. I think Chloe is going to raise the bar a bit. I hope it’s a turning point.”
