The Parramatta Riverside Theatre hosts a screening of Alan Bennett’s acclaimed new play film live at London’s National Theatre.

Thespians will now have a chance to see Alan Bennett’s acclaimed new play, People when Parramatta Riverside Theatre screens a live performance of the show direct from the National Theatre.

Award-winning writer Alan Bennett is reunited with director Nicholas Hytner and Olivier Award-winning actress Frances de la Tour for this new production.

Frances de la Tour plays Dorothy, the owner of a South Yorkshire country house who is facing the dilemma of what to do with her estate. Shrinking from the idea of it being open to the public gaze, she is tempted by an offer from a valuer working on behalf of a shadowy consortium. Meanwhile, her sister June is close to doing a deal with the National Trust, which will make the house a piece of English history.

But then a third possibility arises when a film-reviews company turns up to use the site as a location for a porn movie.

Alan Bennett is one of Britain’s most celebrated playwrights, and the much-anticipated People is the sixth of his plays to have its premiere at the National Theatre.
