women living with hivWorking closely with its strategic sector partner organizations, Straight Arrows and Positive Women VictoriaLiving Positive Victoria is delighted to announce a commitment to a series of Health Promotion activities designed to strengthen the community of women living with HIV in Victoria.

“The needs of women within the community of people living HIV are a priority for this agency, and the Women’s Health Promotion Plan builds on the ongoing work of the agency to encourage greater and meaningful participation of women in the programs and services of Living Positive Victoria,” says Brent Allan, Executive Officer of Living Positive Victoria.

The Women’s Health Promotion Partnership Plan 2013-14 is collaborative and supported plan that outlines the meaningful engagement of women living with HIV, outlining five key areas and 17 committed actions for building strength and resilience, in areas from organisational development and governance to combating social isolation.

“Supporting women living with HIV is critical to ensuring women manage and live well with HIV. We know that women face particular challenges in life and in living with HIV. This collaborative framework will ensure that Victorian women living with HIV have access to a broad range of specific health promotion and important peer based initiatives,” says Rebecca Matheson, Executive Officer at Straight Arrows.

Highlights from the Women’s Health Promotion Partnership Plan include:

• Treatment interactive events specifically for women living with HIV

• Ensuring women are recruited to participate in the Positive Leadership Development Institute (PLDI)

• A new workshop for newly diagnosed women, entitled “Stepping Stones”

• A special edition of Poslink magazine addressing women’s issues
