Fingers crossed that this ineptitude continues throughout their campaign.

One of the main reasons that the Liberal Party’s 2016 attempt to force a national plebiscite on same-sex marriage was so abhorred was because of the platform a national debate would provide for homophobic bigots.

Unsurprisingly, this postal vote is allowing the same thing to happen. Conservative forces are mobilizing and spewing out all the tried and true homophobic aphorisms – “gays are unnatural”, “God hates fags”, “middle-aged white men against political correctness,” and so on.

However, in an immensely satisfying turn of events, it appears that the stupidity that allows people to think homosexuality is a sin also funnels its way into stupidity in all areas of their lives.

Last week, over 80 anti-gay marriage groups combined their forces to form the “Coalition for Marriage,” representing over 3 million people. It is led by four groups, the Australian Christian Lobby, Marriage Alliance, the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney and the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.

Says the Coalition, “The Coalition for Marriage is a grassroots effort powered by ordinary, mainstream Australians who want to protect our country from more gender-bending programs like “Safe Schools”.”

They’ve now unveiled their logos and website, and the results are, well, very pleasing

We’ll just remind you what the bisexual pride flag and logo look like…

The irony is fun. The bisexual flag is about pink bleeding into blue, symbolizing the sexual fluidity that exists between notions of binary gender and heterosexuality.

GetUp Marriage Equality advocate Sally Rugg took to Twitter to point out the similarity between the new conservative logo and the bi pride flag and symbol:

What are the odds that “Coalition For Marriage” ends up using Gaga’s “Born This Way” as their campaign song?
