After sold out shows in 2014, they’re back, outrageous as ever.

After sold out shows in the La Mama Explorations 2014 season, performance troupe The Stain present a slightly stranger, slightly more outrageous and slightly more courageous remount of their two shows for the La Mama Summer Series 5-8 February 2015.

The Stain – Erica Pringle, Kirsty Letts, Helen Tuton, Jo Franklin & Francesca Sculli – formed in 2012, creating a band with a twist. They couple performance and art with their music to give audiences provocative performances, crossing over from rock to pop with a dash of cabaret.

Having spent most of 2014 at various festivals (GRRLFEST, Hare Hole) and guests spots in shows (Maude Davey’s My Life in the Nude and Australian Greens Fundraiser, Some Gay For Your Day) The Stain are excited about an explorative foray into history, sound, life, death and politics in a ‘Piece for an Odd Place’ and ‘The Want’.

To refresh your memory, Piece For An Odd Place reflects a moment of revelation while expressing the exploration of consciousness and memory in the face of life and death. The Want pays homage to the feminist punk-rock movement of the 70s, 80s and 90s led by women who were punk by mindset and attitude – they challenged the status quo and broke new ground.

Each story is told through puppetry, performance, dance, art, live music, strip and song. The show features direction by Anni Davey, puppets by KT Prescott, dances by Tomoki Yamasaki and Cleo Cutcher, and special guests Penny Ikinger, Rebekah Zechner and The 50ft Queenie Choir. With bass addition Sarah Blaby (Plaster of Paris, Remake Remodel), this is a show by The Stain that you should not miss.
