Gay NomadsCamp Mother Lynne Hocking of Australia’s Gay Nomads organized the first GLBTQI friendly, Dog-friendly Tag Along with Road Trips.

Through research have conducted on Australia’s Gay Nomads Facebook page we have established the need for GLBTQI friendly, Dog-friendly Tag Along with Road Trips. So we created Camp Stool Safaris to bring together like-minded travellers and travel “off the straight and narrow”. Anyone can tow a van along a highway and stop at flash campgrounds but for those who want to immerse themselves and have an extraordinary experience than a Camp Stool Safari is the adventure to join.

Our first Camp Stool Safari travels The Long Paddock from Echuca (Mathoura) to Wilcannia and across to the Broken Heel Festival in Broken Hill.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Long Paddock the drive promises a truly unique outback adventure.

Named after the travelling stock routes that traverse outback Australia. The Long Paddock  Touring Route follows the stock route along the Cobb Highway from Echuca- Moama on the Victorian border, through to Wilcannia leading to the iconic outback towns of Bourke, Broken Hill & White Cliffs. The touring route takes you past major public artworks and 47 information panels that tell the story of the region.

The Camp Stool Safari begins on Friday 6th September 2019 at Mathoura in Victoria. In Mathoura we expect to meet the only gay in the village, which should be a hoot. Then we hitch up and hit the road to Deniliquin and Hay where we will get to see the Worlds Largest Red Gum Forest, Take a walk along Gulpa Creek and check out the birdlife in the Murray Valley National Park. See the Home of the Deni Ute Muster and knock back a cold one at Pretty Pine Pub. Camp in Hay home of the Rainbow Plains Festival and the Shear Outback Museum.

This is remote travelling at its best as we head to Ivanhoe and have an ale at the isolated One Tree Hotel & Pop in to meet the locals at the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel. We hit the dirt road for 70km to take us into Wilcannia. We will camp on the banks of the Darling River which may or may not have water flowing.

Then it is off to Broken Hill for an afternoon Camp Stool Safari Happy Hour with the other travellers meeting us at The Hill for the Broken Heel Festival…

It will be a casual and immersive trek through remote outback NSW in the safety of fellow GLBTQI travellers.

Camp Mother Lynne and her partner Linda will be staying at the following parks.
