World OutGames to Launch Global Crowdfunding CampaignWith early bird registrations closing on October 31, the number of people registering for the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames each day has more than quadrupled “Numbers are running ahead of our forecasts,” says Registrations Convenor Peter Gordon.

For some sports, a third or even a half of the final expected numbers have already been achieved – with four and a half months still to go.

Sports such as running and triathlon have no upper limit on numbers. For other sports, there is a maximum number that can be accepted for the competition to be completed, and medal winners decided, within the number of days allotted. Once this maximum number is reached, no further registrations will be accepted for that sport.

Swimming, ten pin bowling and running remain the most popular sports, but there are also strong numbers for dancesport and lawn bowls. Volleyball and field hockey are the team sports with the largest registrations. Over half of the people signing up come from outside New Zealand.

The Outgames takes place in Wellington, New Zealand, 12–19 March 2011.

Sunday, October 31st, is the last day the cheaper fees are available for Outgames registration and for the sports events.

The Outgames conference fees have a later earlybird cut-off date of 30 November, because the full conference programme has not yet been announced. Conference goers can still save money by signing up for the basic registration fee before 31 October.
