Gay activist Peter Tatchell at New Theatre

New Theatre is pleased to announce that the eminent UK gay activist Peter Tatchell, who is in town as a special guest of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival, will be speaking after the performance of Canary on Friday 4 March.

Peter Tatchell has been an activist for over 30 years and is pre-eminent in the ongoing battle for equal rights for gay men and lesbians in the UK. He particularly wanted to attend a performance of Canary and take the opportunity to discuss the issues covered by playwright Jonathan Harvey with the audience. He will be joined on stage by the director Nick Curnow and members of the cast.

Women and gay people are the litmus test of whether a society is democratic and respecting human rights. We are the canaries in the mine. (UK gay activist Peter Tatchell)

Tickets to this performance and the remainder of the season, are still available and can be booked by contacting the Box Office on 1300 306 776 or mca-tix.com.au
