The L Word’s Janina Gavankar’s role on The Vampire Diaries may end up being short-lived, but it’s OK because you’ll still be able to catch her on Love is Dead a new USA comedy. It’s not clear whether she will be able to juggle both schedules, but rumours abound. [wetpaint]

Natasha Lyonne, who plays lesbian Nicky Nichols on Orange is the New Black, was recently on Conan to promote the hugely popular Netflix series. Lyonne plays a sarcastically witty character on screen, and this interview is a great representation of how much her own personality shines through in Nicky. On another note, Lyonne first saw Conan O’Brien when she was on mushrooms. [afterellen]

Speaking of Conan, Jane Lynch was on the couch last night and the lezzie star talked about— among other things—working with Olivia Newton-John on Glee and her childhood crush on Newton-John.  [afterellen]

In case you haven’t been following the drama behind the release of the film Blue is the Warmest Color, here’s a recap. What’s now being called the “French lesbian sex film” took the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Stars Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux then went public with their thoughts on the movie and the directing style, claiming that the sex scenes were “very embarrassing” to film. Now, director Abdellatif Kechiche thinks that the film “shouldn’t be released” because “it has been soiled too much.” Not to mention Julie Maroh, the author of the graphic novel on which it is based, has publicly denounced the sizzling Sapphic love scenes. What a mess! As of now, Blue is the Warmest Color is set to release in the US on Oct 25 and the newly translated graphic novel is available now. [vanityfair]
