October 11 is National Coming Out Day and My Kid Is Gay, the first digital presence for parents of LGBTQ young people, will release an electronic care package available to parents whose children recently came out.

National Coming Out Day and coming out narratives primarily focus on LGBTQ individuals, however, My Kid Is Gay views this day as a unique opportunity to offer support to parents and caregivers who, after their child comes out, also go through their own process of coming out as the family member of an LGBTQ child.

The e-care package, called “Coming Out With Care’, will be released on October 11 to coincide with National Coming Out Day. It will include a welcome video by My Kid Is Gay co-founder Kristin Russo, advice on common questions such as “Should I tell other people?” “Is this a phase?” and “How do I reconcile my child’s identity with my religion?” a list of curated LGBTQ support organizations, a guided journaling and colouring page designed by Cameron Glavin, an exclusive excerpt from This Is A Book for Parents of Gay Kids, and a music playlist created by comedian Brittani Nichols.

The e-care package will be available free of charge from October 11, on an ongoing basis. Simply use the sign-up form found here.
