Across The Aisle Finalist In Australian Podcast AwardsAcross The Aisle – a podcast by and for queers!

Performing arts podcast Across the Aisle has been announced as a finalist in the Arts, Literature and Music category at the 2019 Australian Podcast Awards. Across the Aisle were the 2018 winners in the previous category, Arts and Entertainment.

Queer theory, feminism and the promotion of minority lead narratives are centred in Across the Aisle’s work. Their 2019 nominated episode features Rawcus – the critically acclaimed ensemble of performers with and without disability in the work “Song for a Weary Throat” and the lip-syncing maestro and intrepid drag fabulist Dickie Beau in “Remember Me”.

Across the Aisle is a podcast for people who love the performing arts but don’t get along as much as they would like to. Monthly, hosts Carla and Philip each choose a show to attend and discuss in depth.

During the episode “intermission”, the hosts talk about their favourite pop culture moments of the previous month. In “coming soon”, they highlight upcoming shows, exhibitions, films, and anything culture related for their audience. The podcast is about to celebrate its 4th anniversary.

“In a year where podcasts have exploded, it’s so meaningful to me that we have managed to stay in competition. We are a tiny indie, recorded in our sound engineers spare bedroom. We make our podcast with so much passion and dedication; its a testament to the inspiring work we see – particularly that made by, and for, queer people”
