Still from ‘Girls On Screen, Before Dawn’

The teaser trailer has now been released for Peccadillo Productions’ Girls On Film 2: Before Dawn, the long-awaited follow up to (you guessed it) “Girls On Film”.

It offers a tantalizing glimpse of the 11 short films

It’s very hard to explain just how heartwarming it is to see lesbian love represented on screen. The dearth of positive lesbian representation is often written about in the negative; we bemoan the “Bury Your Gays” trope and the number of lesbian characters that end up “realizing” that they are actually straight. But what is written about less is pure joy and emotional effect that is enacted in seeing two ladies in love on-screen, and knowing that your joy is shared not only by the people who made the film but by all the gorgeous gay girls around the world who are watching it too.

This particular collection of shorts gives us vengeful dolls from Germany, Algerian teenage rebels, tennis court tantrums from Iceland and romantic swimmers from Australia.  It’s an eclectic mix of drama, documentary, animation and horror.

Look out for Rebecca Henderson (Appropriate BehaviourMiss America) in Jeremy Hersh’s Actresses where a young fan comes face to face with her idol.

UK talent comes from Silly Girl, by Hope Dickson Leach, director of the recently released feature The Levelling and co-written by Game of Thrones’ Ellie Kendirk; Rob Savage’s chilling Dawn of The Deaf featuring Emily Bevan (TV’s Doc Marten, Grantchester); and Max Disgrace’s erotically charged Crystal Clear.

Many of the films have been screened at prominent film festivals such as BFI Flare, Toronto International Film Festival, Iris Prize and Sundance Film Festival.

But most importantly, they’re your stories, and we can’t wait for you to see them.
