Women in Wine, presented by Wine Australia and Dan Murphy’s, will give wine lovers the chance to taste some of Australia’s best wines, meet the women who make them and mingle with the leading
ladies from some of Sydney’s top bars and restaurants. The night includes wine tastings, food, live music and a complimentary Riedel glass to take home.
More than 80 wines will be available for tasting amongst the picturesque setting of Sydney’s expansive harbour, at the Dan Murphy’s Winemakers’ Bar, the Winemakers’ Regional Experiences Bar, the Bubbles Bar, the Sommeliers’ Garden, the Viticulturists’ Science Station and the Riedel Bar.
Chefs will be serving hand-rolled potato and confit garlic gnocchi with locally sourced mushrooms; a variety of handmade sliders with pork, chorizo and iceberg, pakora with cucumber and cumin yoghurt and Wagyu sausage; speck and Jarlsberg with zuci pickles. Other food includes duck pâté crostini with port jelly and Ploughman’s boards overflowing with terrines, prosciutto, pâté, crispy lavosh and a selection of delicious cheeses including Maffra cheddar and Milawa washed rind.
All guests have a chance to win a lucky door prize including a Woman in Wine 6 pack from Dan Murphy’s, Flirt Riedel decanter and a one year’s subscription to Gourmet Traveller Wine.
Lauren Murdoch from 3 Weeds, Rozelle will be cooking in the Gaggenau kitchen and TV food presenter and best-selling author - Maeve O’Meara will be providing tips for entertaining at the Dan Murphy’s Bar.
Some of the women in wine attending include winemakers Corrina Wright from Oliver’s Taranga, Penny Jones from Petaluma, Debbie Lauritz from Cumulus; viticulturists Mary Retallack - the 2012 RIRDC Rural Woman of the Year - and Prue Henschke; and sommeliers from Wine Library, ivy, Bloodwood, China Lane and Black by Ezard.
