The Knowledge premieres at The New Theatre
Theatre-lovers will enjoy this Australian premiere of John Donnelly's acclaimed play.
What happens when a young teacher goes off the rails in a failing school?
Being a teacher means weekends. It means thirteen weeks’ holiday. It means a secure job in uncertain times.
But Zoe doesn’t want to have to rescue her students. She doesn’t want to be called a slag. She doesn’t want to sleep with the Head of Science. And she doesn’t want to teach a group of kids how to do life. Because that’s something Zoe’s not sure she knows how to do herself.
In this shocking, revealing and darkly funny play, UK writer John Donnelly draws on his own experience working in schools to reveal an education system in crisis.
pantsguys Productions are the hot young things on Sydney’s indie theatre scene and The Knowledge is the much anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed and sold out production of Punk Rock for atyp’s Under The Wharf season in August. New Theatre is very excited to be partnering with them to present this Australian premiere as the final play for The Spare Room season in 2012.
