Sydney Dance Company fundraiser
Feeling cashed up and want to support the arts? Why not attend Sydney Dance Company's annual fundraiser.
The evening of Saturday September 8, 2012 will see the third annual Dance Noir party... The major fundraising event for Sydney Dance Company. Titled ‘Last Night At Versailles’, this year’s theme plays on the concept of ‘a night at the French Court… the deconstruction of Versailles’... with an appropriate nod to the queen of punk chic, Vivienne Westwood.
Taking place in the studios spaces of Sydney Dance Company’s home on Pier 4, on the wharves of Walsh Bay, the event is designed to celebrate and raise funds for new works, touring, and education programs being presented by this highly acclaimed cultural force.
“This is a real party and a departure from the more corporate style ‘tables of ten’ scenario”, said Anne Dunn, Executive Director, Sydney Dance Company. “Special performances by members of the company and an inspiring party space with a huge dance floor that encourages everyone to embrace the spirit of dance makes this event incredibly dynamic”, added Dunn.
Artistic Director, Rafael Bonachela, is developing new choreography for the event, and will present an exclusive live performance by Sydney Dance Company dancers, and special guest artist, award-winning singer, Katie Noonan. The Chaser’s Chris Taylor will add further punch as MC of what is now regarded as one of the best and most electrifying events on the Sydney social calendar. Renowned auctioneer, Justin Miller, will lead a live auction of exclusive packages including two European trips featuring business class airfares from Singapore Airlines, and an itinerary of unique experiences to be enjoyed in the cities of London and Paris respectively..
As in previous years, a silent auction of a huge array of covetable items to suit all tastes and budgets will also take place, including ‘goodies’ from Alila Villas (Bali), Aria (restaurant), Tattinger, Trimex Cosmetics, Polaroid, Nespresso, Sydney Polo Club and many more.
A unique object d’art from bespoke jewelers, Bunda, inspired by the theme of ‘Last Night At Versailles’, is this year’s stunning raffle prize.
