Ask Julia all your questions
The PM wants to hang out with you this weekend.
Don't you just want to call up Prime Minister Julia Gillard and ask her some questions every once and awhile? Maybe you were recently wondering why agriculture has been exempted from the carbon tax, or how public education can be better funded, or how the Australian economy will continue to bounce back from the Global Financial Crisis.
Or maybe, just maybe, you're wondering the same thing as Shane Bazzi, who recently wrote to the Gillard, "Dear Prime Minister, as the first female, atheist, unmarried Prime Minister of Australia, and leader of a self-described socially progressive party, how do you explain your opposition to same-sex marriage and 'deeply held' belief that same-sex couples should continue to be discriminated against by a piece of legislation (the Marriage Act)? Why are heterosexual relationships more valued than same-sex relationships?”
As it stands now, that exact question may very well come before Gillard during a Google+ hangout session organized by Google and OurSay. At 11am on July 21st, the people who have asked the three most highly-voted questions on the oursay.org site will be invited into the conversation with Gillard. The event is open to the public online.
