Hamilton Island
Explore the wonders of this tropical paradise
The famous Heart Reef
Just off the coast of North Queensland lies Hamilton Island, one of 74 islands that make up the Whtsundays. Hamilton is situated just off the edge of the Great Barrier Reef and offers visitors a little slice of paradise, with its azure waters, beautiful beaches, great climate and the amazing flora and fauna of the Great Barrier Reef just a short boat ride away.
With Queensland tourism suffering a terrible economic blow from the recent weather catastrophes of flooding and cyclone, the Far North is crying out for visitors to return once more. Much of the devastation seen on our TV screens have been cleared away and northern cousins want you to know that they are ready for business once more.
Hamilton Island was fortunate to miss the brunt of January’s cyclone and the island resort was back in business within days of this extreme weather event. Arriving on the island it is difficult to imagine that there was a catastrophe of any kind – the tropical landscape is as lush as ever and the island is looking in tip top shape.
Perfectly situated on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, amongst Queensland’s 74 Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island offers an experience like no other: glorious weather, azure waters, brilliant beaches, awe-inspiring coral reefs, fascinating flora and fauna, fine food and wines, and activities almost too numerous to mention.
Hamilton Island also welcomes new world-class facilities with the newly opened Hamilton Island Golf Club, the architectural wonder that is the multipurpose Hamilton Island Yacht Club and a host of new or refurbished Hotels and Resorts.
