Our first ever Sydney event, the Sydney Queer Formal® was AMAZING! We had 450 cuties from all over NSW come to Petersham Townhall for the night of their lives.
All 450 tickets were provided FREE to the young people attending. We couldn't have done it without the support of ACON, Twenty10, Heaps Gay - and of course, YOU!
To show you how amazing the night was, we made an IMPACT REPORT. See the full report here, but we've outlined some of it for you here!
The Sydney Formal Highlights:
* For 99% of young people, this was their first Queer Formal (2 people came from Melbourne!)
* 94.5% said that the Queer Formal had helped them be their true selves.
* 91% hadn't attended local Sydney LGBTIQ programs yet, and 92% of these youth said they were more likely to access support organisations because of the Queer Formal.
How cool is that??
Here's what one young person had to say: "Okayso where do I start honestly I can’t chosea favouritepart so I’ll list them all so the MC was amazing I loved [their] outgoing funny vibes the performance were really good as well but the lipsyncsomg they were amazing if I wasn’t so shy I would ofgotten up. The food was really good but my most favouritepart was the dancing dancingwith literally everyone and seeing people going all out even if they couldn’t even dance was amazing..." - Attendee, 16 years old, bisexual, person of faith
The Adelaide Formal will kick off on November 17th! We are SO pumped to keep bringing this magical event to all corners of Australia.
Thank you again for everything you've done to support us. I can't wait to share the photos of even MORE young people having the night of their lives.
In 2016, The Family Law made TV history as the first ever show with an Asian-Australian family as leads. In January 2019, it makes history again: as Australia’s first ever TV comedy about teen sexuality.
