Brisbane’s WTF Fest

bris_powerThe World Theatre Festival (WTF) will present two open forums at Brisbane Powerhouse that will create discussion around the change-agents that are reinventing all aspects of theatre.

The program includes:

WTF Forum 1: What If? This session will address the big ‘what ifs’ posed by Lenine Bourke (Artistic Director of Contact Inc.) and Mary Ann Hunter (arts practitioner, policy maker, educator and researcher) in their Currency House Platform Paper, ‘Not Just an Audience: Young People Transforming Our Theatre’ and is scheduled for Sun 13 Feb at 3pm

What if the established theatre industry recognised that young artists have a lot to offer adult audiences? What if young people were brought in on the act of transforming Australian theatre? What if young punters camped out for theatre tickets the way they do for the Big Day Out?

WTF Forum 2: What Next? Jude Kelly is Artistic Director of Southbank Centre – the UK’s largest arts centre, an award winning theatre director and currently serves on the Cultural Olympiad Board which is responsible for the ongoing framework for delivering the creative, cultural and educational aspects of London’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

Jude will explore the issue of ‘what’s next’ in the context of change, including the role of cultural organisations in shaping and being shaped by their immediate environment. Forum Two is scheduled for Sun 20 Feb at 3pm

Both WTF Forums will include panel and audience responses and will be facilitated by Positive Solutions Director Cathy Hunt. They are FREE and open to the public, media, students, local artists and industry.
