The country voted and it was a resounding 'yes' to finally legalise gay marriage in Australia. Since then, gay couples have either become married or engaged, with many in the throes of organising their wedding.

Held at The Commune in Surry Hills, Sydney, the Love is Love expo is full of creative wedding ideas along with gay-friendly wedding suppliers and industry professionals.

Open to everyone, yet catering to the LGBTQI+ community, Love is Love will include the best of LGBT+ entertainers, fashion shows, food and drink; along with displays from wedding planners, photographers, florists, stylists and the chance to win a honeymoon in Vanuatu thanks to boutique resort, THE MOSO.

Hosted by reality TV celebrity, Barrister and now marriage celebrant, Gina Liano, the event is the first of its kind and as such, the passionate gay icon is more than excited to be both host and ambassador.

Gina says, “I’ve always advocated equality for everyone and as such, just recently became a marriage celebrant so I can legally marry gay couples. Love is Love is an incredible event to check out what’s on offer and to give inspiration for those organising their big day, or to just come along to celebrate the ‘yes’ vote and share in the festivities”.

According to wedding expert and creator of the Love Wedding Festival and Love is Love event, organiser Kim Alfeldi said, “I think that the wedding industry assumed that when the gay marriage law was passed, gay weddings would be outlandish and over-the-top.

Yet, what we are finding is that gay weddings are in fact exactly like a ‘straight’ weddings in that they are very much veering towards tradition, with weddings being intimate, personal and unique. At the end of the day, it really is about love, and in solidifying and sharing their union with close family and friends”.
