The epitome of inclusion and access for all lovers of music is the Adelaide Guitar Festival. The beautiful, divergent and diverse sounds of the guitar will return to the people of South Australia in August.
More than 300 artists will perform over the four day festival, including 18 international acts, 66 national artists, and almost 200 local musicians.
Genevieve Chadwick will be bringing her original brand of blues and roots to this year’s festival. Described as Australia’s answer to Melissa Etheridge, Genevieve looks like an angel, roars like a lion, and plays guitar like a demon. Lovers of blues and roots won’t want to miss Genevieve rip through crazy blues runs with her acoustic guitar and stomp-box.
New to the festival is Guitars in Bars and other places which will take the festival to the pubs and clubs of South Australia. There are no limits—Rock, jazz, blues, folk, and more. Guitars in Bars will increase the reach of the festival to more than 100 venues across the state with more than 300 local musicians signed up to participate.
The festival has gained international success and is now seen as a prestigious event that showcases talent from both Australia and overseas.
Australian classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan said, “This year, our Adelaide Guitar Festival stretches into new territory throughout the city, across platforms and encompasses new ideas and musical adventures.”
The festival is the most significant of its kind held in the Southern Hemisphere. It brings together masterful artists from around the world and allows musicians to deliver an eclectic and entertaining program of events including workshops, master classes, artist talks and panel discussions.
