Canned Fruit Is Giving Us A Marriage Equality Rally After Party

It’s part of King St Crawl and it’s taking over upstairs at Newtown Hotel!

After the Sydney Marriage Equality Rally on Sunday you’re going to be pretty buzzed, right? You will have been surrounded with beautiful, politically engaged, excited queers for hours, and you’ll need somewhere to go to get out the *feels* on the DF.

Luckily, Sunday also happens to be the day of King St Crawl, where venues all over King St and Newtown will be opening their doors for live music and special gigs, shows and installations. It’s a blast every year, but this year it’s going to be even more queer than usual, if that’s even possible.

Queer party series Canned Fruit will be taking over the upstairs level at the Newtown Hotel on King from 3pm for their very own King St BALL.

DJs Astrix Little, Nic Kelly and Double D will be spinning the decks, and there will be live performances from Burley Chassis, Daniel Kitty, and Asuma Jender (we love that last name so much).

There’ll be a glitter van, too, so you can get glittered up and shine, shine, shine even more than you already do.

The Canned Fruit folks have this special message for those who’ll be attending the rally:

“We invite those who are coming from the Marriage Equality rally to bring along their signs, rainbow attire, etc to join us for a post-rally drink + dance with our fruity family.”

So bring your flags, bring your thirst for equality, and bring your dancing shoes!
