Alice Hansen Embarks On National Tour

Writer of ‘Labels Are Gay – Love is for All’ releases her new book ‘Tailored Tasmania’

Tasmanian writer Alice Hansen is ready to embark on a six-week tour of each capital city with her books, including Labels Are Gay – Love is for All. More than 4000 copies of this book have been sold and used by teachers, counsellors, and families to share a message that love is love, no matter who it is between. She has been overwhelmed with the support she’s had for this book, particularly from strangers at Salamanca Market.

Hansen’s new book Tailored Tasmania – What the Locals Love provides insider tips to people thinking of visiting Tasmania. Recently named one of the most desirable regions on earth by Lonely Planet, Tasmania is enjoying visitation in record numbers. Some call it the MONA effect, others credit the ancient wilds. Whatever it is, the island has never been more attractive as a destination. With visitors wanting insider tips and not the traditional tourist trail, Hansen’s new book covers all bases.

Tailored Tasmania is the launch pad for exploring Tasmania like a local. It’s packed with secrets on the best places to eat, play, shop and stay. Launched by Premier Will Hodgman, the book offers far-flung stories, recipes direct from salty seas, a handy guide section and a water-resistant map. Used by locals wanting to try a new watering hole and visitors seeking a tourist trail less travelled, the book is now a mainstay in hotel rooms, bookstores and cafes. With its sister website by the same name, Tailored Tasmania shows readers which wine bars to relax in on a girls’ weekend, where to cast a line or how to find little known cafés on the backstreets. A homegrown Tasmanian with ten years professional tourism experience, the author has hand-picked gems the locals love.

Premier Hodgman has praised the book, saying, “Alice Hansen’s wonderful new book provides a unique way for visitors to unlock and enjoy the secrets of Australia’s most authentic and engaging destination: Tasmania.”

Hanson’s other books include the bestseller A Devilish Tale which raised over $6,500 for the Tassie Devil Appeal. She has also written for Australian Traveller Magazine, Jetstar, Sunday Style, Luxury Travel, and LOTL!
