5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche Is Coming To Melbourne
Come in, take your name tag, and have a blast at the most outrageous community meeting of your life.
The uproarious, award-winning, off-Broadway smash 5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche is coming to Melbourne in September. The performance is about sisterhood, community, and the best way to eat a quiche: deliberately and face first.
5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche is set in 1956 when the Cold War is at its peak. However, even the threat of nuclear annihilation won’t stop the charming widows of the Susan B. Anthony Society For The Sisters Of Gertrude Stein from getting together and celebrating their annual Quiche Breakfast.
Melbourne’s Lithuanian Club will host the Victorian premiere season of the comedy, with the New York Times declaring it would attract a cult following thanks to its “raw and magnetic dementia”.
Following its 2015 Australian premiere in Brisbane and sell-out seasons in Chicago and New York, the merry widows are excited to head south to serve up some slices to Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Directed by Nathanael Cooper, the show stars some of the country’s most celebrated stage talent including Lauren Jackson, Lauren O’Rourke, Bianza Zoupass, Ashlee Lollback, and Catherine Alcorn.
About bringing the show to Melbourne Cooper said, “I am thrilled the sisters are heading south.” She added, “Queensland audiences loved their first taste of quiche and there’s no doubt Melbourne audiences will be wiping their chins and licking their fingers with delight after the very first bite.”
