Jackie Chan’s Daughter Claims Homophobia Left Her Homeless.

“Hi, I'm Jackie Chan's daughter and this is my girlfriend Andi. We've been homeless for a month due to homophobic parents," said Etta Ng in a video with Andi Autumn. "We’ve pretty much slept under a bridge and other things." So begins the strange video recently released by Jackie Chan’s 18-year-old-daughter Etta and her 30-year-old-girlfriend Andi. "I don’t even understand what is going on because we’ve gone to the police, we’ve gone to the hospital, the food banks, LGBTQ community shelters, and all of them just don’t give a s**t,” Ng continued, "So that’s why we’re making this video — because we don’t know what to do at this point.” The heartwrenching plea for help spurned a crisp rebuttal from Etta’s mother, beauty queen Elaine Ng. “I feel that if they have no money, they should go find work,” she told Coc”onuts. “They shouldn’t film a clip telling others they are broke and who Etta’s father is. People all over the world work hard and don’t rely on someone else’s fame to get money.” Etta’s relationship with her parents has been fraught for years, with allegations and accusations flying from both sides. Elaine Ng was arrested by police in 2015 after allegations of child abuse, but later released. In February, Elaine filed a missing persons report for Etta after Etta quit her job and disappeared. Etta lived with her Mother until coming out as gay, at which point she dropped out of school and moved in with her girlfriend, Autumn. Shortly afterwards, in October of 2017, Elaine reported to Hong Kong police that Etta broke into her home and stolen items worth HK$17,000. Etta’s relationship with her father, Jackie Chan, has been tumultuous as well. She once told Express that Chan has “never existed in my life. I will never regard him as a father.” Elaine claims that the video is proof of Autumn taking advantage of a much younger, troubled girl. "Etta has emotional problems. She was seeing a doctor last year, but she hasn’t gone to therapy since she left Hong Kong," she told Coconuts. "[Autumn is] already 30-something and is a teacher with working experience. How can she tell an 18-year-old girl to film such a video? It’s wrong."

While the video is concerning, Elaine’s determination to portray Etta as a mentally unstable girl being manipulated by an older lesbian is a classic example of lesbophobia. Yes, Etta and Autumn should get jobs if they need money. But what if they can’t? Homosexuality isn’t exactly accepted in China. Furthermore, the old predatory lesbian stereotype is a classic method of gaslighting young lesbians by questioning their sanity and autonomy. This is a sad story with no clear truth and a lot of loaded concepts. Watch the video above and form your own opinion.

Samira Wiley Says “Visibility Is Essential” In GLAAD Media Awards Acceptance Speech.

Out actress Samira Wiley, known for playing beloved queer characters in Orange Is the New Black and The Handmaid’s Tale, accepted the Vito Russo Award during GLAAD’s 2018 Media Awards in New York City. She became the first gay woman of color to receive the prestigious honor, awarded every year to an LGBTQ media professional who made a significan impact in promoting LGBTQ equality. “So often in the lives of young queer people, when they decide to make those terrifying and boldly courageous first fragile steps into living their lives as authentically as possible, the plans do change,” she said. “Because of my parents, I knew I was loved and because of that, my plans, dreams, and goals all remained intact.” Wiley then spoke directly to LGBTQ youths struggling to come out. “Let me say it plainly right now: you are loved,” she said. “You have a community that is here for you, that is dedicated to protecting you and accepts you for exactly who you are right [at] this moment.” Watch the full speech above.

Cara Delevingne is Vogue UK’s June Cover Girl.

Vogue UK just revealed their June 2018 covergirl: Cara Delevingne. The out British model and actress was photographed by Steven Meisel in a striking white Noel Stewart hat and coral lips, channeling classic Hollywood glamour mixed with British royal elegance. Headlined “Modern Romance,” the spread is described as “Vogue’s royal salute,” an uncharacteristically ladylike look for the normally rock n roll, androgynous starlet.

Jay-Z’s Lesbian Mother, Gloria Carter, Honored at GLAAD Media Awards.

Gloria Carter accepted a “Special Recognition” award for the 4:44 track “Smile” at the 2018 GLAAD Media Awards. When Jay-Z’s album 4:44 came out, “Smile” made headlines because it described Jay-Z’s experience learning his mother was gay. In “Smile,” Jay-Z rapped about accepting his mother’s sexuality and she made a guest experience as a now-out, finally happy gay black woman. While accepting the award, Carter described falling in love with a woman and coming out to her son. “Here I am. I’m loving, I’m respectful, I’m productive, and I’m a human being who has a right to love who I love,” she said. “So everybody, just smile, be free.” Watch her moving speech above.
