Some readers may recall that in LOTL's February 2010 issue we launched Mary's Journey, a book self-published by Mary’s partner Rosie, which tells the story of Mary’s five-year encounter with cancer. It is hoped that the book will help others who are embarking on a similar journey. This is a very female account of living and dying with illness, and is indicative of the very special way that women handle the hard times and support each other.
The website, marysjourney.com, is designed to offer hope and inspiration to patient and carer as they travel the insidious radiotherapy and chemotherapy route. The website features extracts from the book and allows visitors to post their own stories and questions to the site. It is hoped that various components of this website will inspire and perhaps comfort in the hour of need.
